Scripture Post #1,571: *MORNING HON…YOU'RE NOT MY WIFE!*

Genesis 29:

21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.

25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?

Imagine the most important day of your life: your wedding day! Everything goes swell and your wedding night is most enjoyable. You couldn't ask for anything more. All is as to be expected… well… until Morning!!! You wake up to greet your spouse to find out that you've just slept with your spouse' sibling!!! This sounds like a work of fiction. But it's the Bible-truth!

Jacob, Abraham's grandson and Isaac's son, went to a man named Laban, kin of his, in hopes to marry his daughter, Rachel. The men agreed that Jacob would work for Laban for 7 years for Rachel's hand in marriage. Laban hoodwinked Jacob, leading him on to think he'd get Rachel, when he actually got her older sister, Leah. Jacob was outraged, of course, and went to Laban. Laban then explained that it was customary for older siblings to be married off before younger ones. Gee, ya think Laban coulda let Jacob in on that detail before this fiasco jumped off? Anyway, Jacob got two wives out of the deal. But he had to work an additional 7 years for Rachel!
