Scripture Post #1,277: *AUDIENCE-APPROVAL*

1st John 4: 

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Distinctions are very important. To distinguish what's right from what's wrong, what's good from what's bad, what's GOD from what isn't, determines our current and future outcomes. Distinguishing GOD's Spirit of Truth from the wicked spirit of error comes down to *AUDIENCE-APPROVAL*. The world agrees with their own, (1st John 4:5) and GOD's people agree with their own (1st John 4:6). This doesn't mean: Don't evangelize. It actually means quite the contrary. We should tell as many people about CHRIST as possible: those who agree with our words are our fellow Saints. And those who disagree are of the spirit of error.
