Scripture Post #1,240: *CEASED FROM SIN*

1st Peter 4:

1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

*CEASED FROM SIN*—wow!! I know it may sound impossible. Because we've been taught that nobody's perfect. And, we're all sinners saved by grace. Well, those two statements aren't true and can't be found in Scripture. In fact, Scripture states quite the opposite. Scripture calls us perfect, not imperfect. Scripture calls us Saints, not sinners. This isn't a holier-than-thou-message. This is a truth-message. And the truth is that we don't have to sin another day of our lives. Sin is optional—not inevitable. No one forces us to sin. Each and every sin we've ever committed has been our *choice*. We have options. The can't help it's are lies. You can help it. Whatever sin you think you can't stop doing, are you doing it now? At this moment? If sin were inevitable, we'd do it *all* the time. But we don't, do we? so just knock it off, already. We're not bound sinners subject to the Devil. We're blood-bought Believers, given power to cease from sin!!

Perfect:

"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." ~1st Peter 5:10.

Saints:

"But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;" ~Ephesians 5:3.
