Scripture Post #1,196: *RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY*
1st Peter 2:
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Our *RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY* is honorable unto GOD.
"And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s." ~Luke 20:25.
When we respect those in authority over us, we're not respecting all of their deeds and actions. We're respecting their *position* because we're not rebels. We don't rebel against authority. This is not the way of GOD. I've heard Christians say that JESUS was a rebel. This is far from true. JESUS obeyed and respected the law and those who upheld it. JESUS wasn't crucified for rebellion; He was crucified because he was falsely accused. And He went through with it anyhow because He loves us!
