Scripture Post #1,190: *WERE NOT…ARE NOW*

1st Peter 2:10: 

"Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

Contrary to popular belief, we are not *all* children of GOD. We are all *creations* of GOD. Those who are currently the children of GOD, weren't always.  ("…In time past were not a people, but are now the people of God…) GOD's grace and mercy is for everybody. But in order to obtain HIS mercy, we must be HIS people. ("…Which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.") We can be GOD's people and accept all of HIS wonderful benefits, but we must first go through JESUS. He has got to be the LORD of our lives. Quite frankly, there can be no other way. Quite honestly, I'd have it no other way. Life without CHRIST is a life without freedom from sin, overwhelming joy that comes from being forgiven of sin, access to the FATHER, and everlasting life! If not CHRIST than who? If not this than what?
