Scripture Post #1,897: *KINDNESS, A LAW*
Exodus 23:
4 If thou meet thine enemy's ox or his ass going astray, thou shalt surely bring it back to him again.
5 If thou see the ass of him that hateth thee lying under his burden, and wouldest forbear to help him, thou shalt surely help with him.
It was actually against the law to refuse to show kindness in the Old Testament. GOD gave this law to Moses, to give to the rest of the Israelites. Even if you didn’t get along with your neighbor, the law required you to show kindness.
Exodus 23:4-5 Easy-To-Read Version (ERV): “If you see a lost bull or donkey, then you must return it to its owner—even if the owner is your enemy. [Verse 5:] If you see an animal that cannot walk because it has too much to carry, you must stop and help that animal. You must help that animal even if it belongs to one of your enemies.”
