Scripture Post #1,895: *BE HOLY UNTO ME*

Exodus 22:31:

“And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

The purpose for this law was to make Moses and the Israelite-people, holy. GOD is holy and desires us like Him. We were made in His image and likeness, after all. GOD’s law of not eating meat from animals that have died from being attacked by other animals, was to keep His people holy. It’s beneath GOD’s people to eat meat fit for canines. It’s beneath GOD’s people to bear false witness (lie). It’s beneath GOD’s people to steal. GOD’s law was set up to make distinction between His people and the rest of the world. GOD wants His people unspotted (separate) from the world.

In the Old Testament, the law is what made you holy. In the New Testament, CHRIST is Who makes you holy. It’s not about how good your behavior is. It’s about how perfect CHRIST was and continues to be. CHRIST fulfilled the law. Today, GOD still requires holiness from His people. But it’s far simpler to obtain than it used to be. If we love GOD and love people, we fulfill all of the laws and commandments. And if we love the LORD, we’ll do right by Him. Simple.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” ~John 14:15.

Matt.. 22:36: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law?”

V. 37: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

V. 38: “This is the first and great commandment.

V. 39: “And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

V. 40: “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Made Holy By CHRIST’s Death:

Colossians 1:21: “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in yourmind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled”

V. 22: “In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:”
