Scripture Post #1,834: *PURSUIT OF PEACE*
Psalms 34:14:
"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it."
Leave evil where it is. Just walk away. No good comes from it. Peace of mind surely doesn't come from it. Do good things — now that'll give you some peace. Pursuing peace is a requirement in order to obtain it at times. Peace doesn't always come automatically. It's a pursuit! When you're faced with hardship and you don't allow the bitter situation you're in to determine your peace — peace then becomes a pursuit!
JESUS invoked peace when there was none: He was out at sea with His Disciples and a storm hit. He then, brought forth peace. He didn't allow the storm to affect His well-being! ("And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." ~Mark 4:39.)
Stephen, while being stoned to death, prayed to GOD to receive his spirit. He didn't ask for the LORD's rescue. He was at peace with his demise. ("And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." ~Acts 7:59.)
