Scripture Post #789: *THE HOUR IS COME*

John 12:23: "And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified."

Context:

John 12:20: "And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:"

V. 21: "The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus."

V. 22: "Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus."

V. 23: "And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified."

From the context we gather that JESUS said, "*THE HOUR IS COME*", only after the Greeks came to worship. JESUS' hour to be crucified for the sins of the world wasn't to come until the *Greeks* came to worship! Why? Because salvation is for "…every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." 

Rom. 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
