This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the Church of the Thessalonians (1st Thess. 1:1).
Who can walk *WORTHY OF GOD*? What did Apostle Paul mean when he wrote this to the Thessalonian Church? After all, all our righteousness are as filthy rags in the eyes of a Holy GOD:
Is. 64:6: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
The truth of the matter is, we can't walk worthy of GOD in our own strength. One must be *made* righteous (worthy) by a Holy GOD. And we are only *made* righteous (worthy), because JESUS CHRIST, becoming sin, took our place:
2nd Cor. 5:21: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
We can't be perfect in our own strength. JESUS said to be perfect as the FATHER. The FATHER is perfect, and we are only mirroring a perfect GOD. But the perfection is not ours, but HIS:
Matt. 5:48: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
So when Paul wrote to walk worthy of GOD, he was saying: "Now that you are made worthy, act like it." We are redeemed and made holy, so we shouldn't still be gettin' high, bed-hopping, and acting out of our *worth*, once we've been made worthy. A business man looking to make money doesn't sell $500.00 dollar shoes for $20.00. Why doesn't he? Because he'd lose money—the shoes are worth much, much more than a measly $20.00. Well it's the same with us. We've been made worthy to walk worthy of a Holy GOD. We're worth much, much more than wicked sin. So our actions should reflect our worth. That's what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote "walk worthy of God"—to have your actions reflect your worth!
