Scripture Post #1,183: *ONE OF PAUL'S SHIPWRECKS*

Acts 27:

43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

The Apostle Paul had been in 3 shipwrecks in his life, this describes one of them.

Paul was on a ship full of guards and prisoners. Violent waves caused the ship to wreck leaving the centurion guards a tough decision to make: kill the prisoners so they won't escape, or hope that it won't come to that. Fortunately, it was because of GOD giving Paul favor with the guards, that all were saved and none perished.

(Acts 27:41: "And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves."

V. 42: "And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape."

V. 43: "But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:"

V. 44: "And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.")

"Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;" ~2nd Corinthians 11:25.
