Scripture Post #1,842: *CONTRITE*

Psalms 34:18:

"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

People ought to really learn to be *CONTRITE* in spirit. To feel guilty, bad, ashamed, blue, down, embarrassed, low, et cetera, for the sin that you've committed against GOD, is, guess what? A good thing! You cheat on your wife. You tell her that you cheated. She shrugs her shoulders and says, "Babe, it's kool." You feel no guilt at all. You do it again. She shrugs it off again. You don't feel badly, *again*. The cycle continues! When we go to GOD for repentance, there should be shame. Shame brings forth conviction. Conviction brings forth deliverance. Yes, deliverance. Yeah, we've lost sight of that. We want breakthroughs in so many other areas that make us feel good, but GOD brings forth deliverance. Even today! There are still ex-homosexuals, ex-lesbians, ex-fornicators, ex-masturbators, ex-porn-watchers, ex-profanity-users, ex-thieves, ex-substance-abusers, ex-adulterers, ex-liars, ex-cheaters and so on and so on! I know men who used to sleep with men and don't anymore, and have families now. I know folks who used to hit the blunt, and now, they're free! Why do we believe that sin is a must? That's no where in Scripture! Sin is a choice; it is not inevitable.

Feel badly for your sin. Turn to GOD, believing in faith that you won't do it anymore. Repent. And be made free!
