This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, unto Titus, his son in the common faith (Titus 1:1-4).
Context:
Titus 2:1: "But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:"
V. 2: "That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience."
The aged men (mature men) in Titus 2:2 are sober, temperate, sound in faith, etcetera, because of sound doctrine, mentioned in the previous verse. Sound doctrine, conducted in long enough, will bear all of the responsible attributes mentioned in Titus 2:2. Sound doctrine is sensible doctrine, true doctrine, the Word of GOD. Things done irresponsibly from lack of maturity will dissipate once a good hold on the Word of GOD is acclimated. Continue in sound doctrine, young man, and become that aged man who conducts himself in the matured wisdom of GOD's ways.
