Scripture Post #802: *PREACHER'S KIDS*

1st Timothy 3:
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, unto Timothy, his son in the faith (1st Tim. 1:1-2).

P.K. stands for: Preacher's kid, or Pastor's kid. It's been said, that *PREACHER'S KIDS* are as bad as they come. And sadly, in too many cases, this statement isn't far from true. P.K.'s aren't supposed to be this way, and in many cases, they aren't. The thing is, nowadays, preachers are overly concerned with the Church that their families suffer. Their wives and children are neglected, which is why so many preachers have gotten divorced, and so many P.K.'s have sought out outside sources for validation and affection. So if your Pastor decides to take his family on vacation, please allow him that. If your Bishop cancels Bible Study to tend to his family, please allow him. If service is cut short for the sake of a P.K., please allow that child the time he or she desperately needs with their daddy.

Context:
1st Tim. 3:1: "This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work."
V. 2: "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;"
V. 3: "Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;"
V. 4: "One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;"
V. 5: "(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)"
V. 6: "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."
V. 7: "Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil."

Preachers must make time for their families, having their houses in order. If they can't handle their own houses, how can they handle GOD's?
