Scripture Post #724: *THE WILL OF GOD*

1st Thessalonians 4:
3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the Church of the Thessalonians (1st Thess. 1:1).

*THE WILL OF GOD* is that we be sanctified, as we can see in this Scripture Passage. Sanctification means to be holy, sacred and set apart. If Christians conducted in concupiscence (strong sexual lust) then there'd be no difference between the Church (those saved) and the world (sinners/those unsaved). Many are seeking the will of GOD while carrying on in worldliness, all the while not realizing that the will of GOD is sanctification (1st Thess. 4:3: "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification…")—to be different than the world! "Lord, what do you want me to do? God, what's your will for my life?" Answer: To be sanctified.

We must know how to possess our vessels in sanctification and honor (1st Thess. 4:4).
The perfect will of GOD isn't to be like the world, but to be sanctified in obedience unto GOD:
Rom. 12:1: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
V. 2: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
