Scripture Post #683: *SIMPLY WON'T COME*

John 5:38 

And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. 

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

JESUS spoke these words to the Pharisees. 

In verse 38, JESUS was basically telling the Pharisees that they didn't have the Word of GOD in them, because they didn't believe the words of JESUS CHRIST, WHO GOD had sent. In verse 39, JESUS  tells the Pharisees to search the Scriptures. And that the Scriptures testify of HIM. And finally, in verse 40, JESUS straight-up tells the Pharisees: "…Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."

The Pharisees thought they had the Word of GOD in them but were mistaken. Because if they had the Word of GOD in them, they would've accepted JESUS CHRIST, WHO was sent by GOD. They would have also seen that the Scriptures clearly testify of CHRIST's validity, and would eventually had come to HIM. "…Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." The Pharisees sought their own way, instead of humbly accepting GOD's.
