Scripture Post #410: *A CURSE FOR US*

Galatians 3:13: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:"

Context: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and all the brethren which were with him, unto the Churches of Galatia (Gal. 1:1-2).

"…For it is written…"—"…written…" where? Written here (in the Old Testament):

Deu. 21:22: "And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:"

V. 23: "His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance."

JESUS CHRIST, being unworthy of death (because HE never sinned), became sin (2nd Cor. 5:21). JESUS and sin becoming 1 and the same on the Cross, made JESUS "worthy of death" (Deu. 21:22)! And in becoming sin, CHRIST hung on a tree (Crucified) "accursed of God" (Deu. 21:23)! Making HIM "*A CURSE FOR US*" (Gal. 3:13)!

2nd Cor. 5:21: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
