2nd Corinthians 10:18: "For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth."

Context: This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Timothy, unto the Church at Corinth (2nd Cor. 1:1-2).
Ever took a test at school and thought you did well, only to find out that you didn't? You were all excited because you knew your stuff was tight! You figured you could've pulled an easy A, or B at the least. But you wound up getting a C or a D. :( See? It didn't matter what you thought of your test. Or how well you thought you did. The outcome of your grade fell completely on your teacher's opinion of it.
It's the same way in life. Our opinions of our lives mean nothing. It's what our CREATOR, GOD thinks that matters. HE and only HE.
2nd Corinthians 10:17-18
Easy-to-Read Version (ERV):
V. 17: "Whoever boasts should boast only about the Lord."
V. 18: "What people say about themselves means nothing. What counts is whether the Lord says they have done well."
