Scripture Post #273: *PRAYING ALONE*

Mark 6:46: "And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray."

This is the 2nd account of JESUS *PRAYING ALONE* that's recorded in the Book of Mark. The 1st was Mark 1:35, which is Scripture Post #245: *PRAYING SOLITARILY*: "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." Another account of JESUS (our example) praying alone, is when HE prayed in the Garden, moments before HE was taken to HIS Crucifixion! Praying alone is important. In the Book of Matt., JESUS tells us to pray secretly, which is to pray alone. Matthew 6:5: "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."
V. 6: "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." (Scripture Post #39: *PRAYER CLOSET*)

It's interesting to me that JESUS prayed alone right after feeding 5,000 people. (Mark 6:30-46) Because, it's not like HE was praying to GOD to be charged up Spiritually to perform some great miracle—HE had just performed 1!! We don't pray to get Spiritually charged up. We pray to keep fellowship with GOD. We pray to keep close to GOD. We pray to keep communion with GOD. We pray to stay connected to GOD. I'm not meaning to imply that you can't pray for a Spiritual recharge from GOD. My meaning is: our prayer life isn't meant to seek GOD's power—it's meant to seek HIM!
