Scripture Post #227: *VEIL TORN*
Matthew 27:
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
The veil was used in the Old Testament as a sacred divider "…between the holy place and the most holy." (Ex 26:33: "And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.")
This sacred veil was torn, signifying it being no more, after JESUS gave up the GHOST (died). Don't be blind by the vail; the "...vail is done away in Christ." 2nd Cor. 3:14: "But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ."
The old is gone and the new is here! The veil tearing after CHRIST dying is GOD doing a new thing in the lives of HIS followers!
In the OT, if you sinned, a lamb had to be slain for your sins to be forgiven. (Lev. 4:32: "And if he bring a lamb for a sin offering, he shall bring it a female without blemish.") In the NT, JESUS was the LAMB that was slain for our sins! (John 1:29: "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." 1st Peter 1:19: "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:")
In the OT, you couldn't go before GOD in certain holy places, but the levitical priesthood only. In the NT, JESUS is our HIGH PRIEST! And HE enables us to "...come boldly unto the throne of grace!" (Heb. 4:14: "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession."
Verse 15: "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."
Verse 16: "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.")
There are so many other absolutely wonderful things that happened when the veil was torn and CHRIST made things new for us! The list goes on…
This is pretty kool ->This is Scripture Post #227, today is the 27th, and I'm posting from Matt chapter 27! ¡Wow!
