Scripture Post #2,183: *ASSOCIATION*
Numbers 19:22:
“And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.”
The LORD gave His people, the Israelites, many laws. And some had to do with *ASSOCIATION*: The LORD wanted His people set apart. He desired this, not to make His people superior to others. But rather to make distinction between light and dark, sin and holiness, clean and unclean and right and wrong. Many of the things people who are apart from GOD do, are unclean things to do, or wrong things to do, simply because of association. Simply because that which was unclean, touched something unclean.
It’s like this: I, being a Christian, desire GOD. GOD is right; He is not wrong. GOD is light; He is not dark. GOD is true; He cannot lie. GOD is clean; He is not unclean. GOD is holy; He is not sinful. GOD is pure/sacred; He is not defiled. So, being a Christian, and desiring a GOD Who’s holy and perfect, has me repulsed at sin and darkness (things unlike Him). If someone apart from GOD associates themselves with a thing, that thing they’ve associated themselves with can sometimes become unclean. Because it was touched by uncleanness! Because those apart from GOD aren’t attracted to His ways. Darkness is the absence of light. And if you’re lost in darkness, your desires are then tainted, marred and flawed. Godless people desire godlessness. Saints desire Sainthood.
“…Touch Not The Unclean Thing…”:
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” ~2nd Corinthians 6:17
“…Toucheth Him Not…”:
“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” ~1st John 5:18
