Scripture Post #2,091: *TOO HOLY TO BE SEEN*
Numbers 4:20:
“But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.”
Some things are *TOO HOLY TO BE SEEN*. In the Book of Exodus, Moses asked to see GOD’s glory. And to Moses’ request, the LORD replied: “And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.” ~Exodus 33:20.
In the Book of Numbers, the fourth chapter, GOD commanded certain Levites to be responsible over certain positions within His holy sanctuary. But there were certain jobs that only the Priests could do. And if these Priests’ duties were so much as even looked at by an unappointed viewer, than that onlooker would die because of the unbearable weight GOD’s glory carries!
There should be a certain respect, fear and reverence when it comes to GOD. Have we forgotten that He’s holy? That at the sight of His glory we’d surely perish! Do we honor Him appropriately? Yes, the New Testament has come and we’ve been made righteous. (“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” ~Romans 5:19.) But we had to be *made* righteous — it’s not our righteousness, it’s His. Does the grace of GOD and the righteousness we’ve been permitted, enable us to behave less respectable to His Holiness? There is so much worldliness and godlessness done within GOD’s sanctuaries and across His pulpits these days. So many of us mistake GOD’s grace with His patience.
