Scripture Post #2,021: *DON’T EAT OF THE TREE*

Leviticus 19:23:

“And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.”

Context:

Lev. 19:23: “And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.”

Verse 24: “But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal.”

V. 25: “And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.”

GOD is so sovereign and holy. He commanded His people to be like Himself: holy, sacred, set apart, different. When the Israelites made their arrival to the Promised Land, they weren’t allowed to eat the produce right away. This was due to the land’s past corruption. Take into consideration the vile sinfulness of a pagan, Godless land. The sin was so repugnant that it permeated the very ground in which the sin was committed upon.
