Scripture Post #1,613: *PUT AWAY THE STRANGE GODS*

Genesis 35:2:

"Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:"

Gen. 35:1: "And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother."

V. 2: "Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:"

V. 3: "And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went."

You can't be close to, make an altar for, and come and worship the true and living GOD, while having strange and false gods in your possession, and have GOD be pleased with you. This doesn't work. If you want to live for GOD, then do just that. *PUT AWAY THE STRANGE GODS*!

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other…"
