Scripture Post #1,609: *MAKING UP*
Genesis 33:4:
"And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept."
Genesis 33:1: "And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids."
V. 2: "And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost."
V. 3: "And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother."
V. 4: "And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept."
Jacob hoodwinked his older twin brother out of a birth-right blessing-inheritance. He did the same to their father (Isaac) and was blessed by Isaac with the blessing of the eldest son. (The eldest son was granted a far greater inheritance and blessing than the rest of the children in those days.) After being so conniving to his older brother, Jacob thought he'd pay for what he'd done. He saw his brother coming with 400 men and was afraid for his life, and what happened next was shocking! Instead of making Jacob pay for what he'd done, Esau made up with his younger brother, Jacob! He hugged, kissed and cried with his brother. Esau had done well for himself, despite being shorted out of his inheritance.
