Scripture Post #1,501: *JEHOVAH-JIREH*

 

Genesis 22:14:

 "And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen."

GOD commanded Abraham to sacrifice the life of his one and only promised son (Isaac), by way of burnt-offering. Just as Abraham stretched forth his knife about to slay his son, GOD stopped him. Abraham loved his son Isaac, very, very much. But Abraham had enough since to realize the big picture. Abraham would not have had the son that he had, had GOD not *given* him to him. Abraham loved GOD more than anything else. And GOD caused Abraham to exercised this love, at the place called: *JEHOVAH-JIREH*. JEHOVAH-GOD provided a ram to be sacrificed in place of Isaac. And Abraham worshipped the LORD his GOD (Gen. 22).
