Scripture Post #1,489: *HALF SISTER HALF LIE*

 

Genesis 20:12:

"And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife."

Partial honesty is dishonesty. Abraham told rulers of foreign lands that his wife was his sister. (For fear that they'd kill him and take his wife.) This was true. However, it was also misleading and deceptive. It's what Abraham didn't say that caused the issue. Abraham didn't say that he'd married his sister. Omitting key information, while expressing truth about other information, is equally bad as just straight up lying. People do this constantly. Using technicalities to justify their dishonesty. 

Let's be clear and not misleading.
