Scripture Post #1,217: *CHRIST THE PROPITIATION*

1st John 2:2: "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

The Scripture doesn't read: CHRIST's *death* was the propitiation for our sins. It reads: He (CHRIST) *is* the propitiation for our sins. He took it on. He became it. 

GOD hates sin. HE's too holy to accept it. The wrath of GOD is unleashed upon wickedness. So JESUS took the cup of the wrath of GOD and drank it. And GOD's wrath was unleashed upon His Son in place of us. CHRIST appeased our sins. And not ours alone, but the sins of all humanity. Our sins are already appeased—all we have to do is receive the gift CHRIST bought for us in His blood. Just receive it.
