1st Peter 2:9: 

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

We aren't just chosen for any ol' trivial task. We are chosen to praise GOD, Who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. We were chosen *out* of darkness. We're in His light now. GOD has surely changed our ways. If we abide in darkness, we're then, outside of who we truly are. Who the LORD has called us into being. 

"Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness." ~1st Thessalonians 5:5.
