Scripture Post #1,787: *STAY HERE*
Exodus 8:
25 And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.
26 And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?
27 We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.
The oppressed Israelites were destined to be delivered from Egypt's bondage and led to a better land. Pharaoh asked Moses to have the Israelites stay in Egypt and sacrifice to the LORD there. Why leave Egypt and sacrifice in the wilderness, when you're welcome in comfy Egypt to do the same? Moses explained how the Israelites' traditions were an abomination unto the Egyptians. And how they weren't safe there. The Egyptians loathed the Israelites.
("…Because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians." ~Gen. 43:32.
"…For every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians." ~Gen. 46:34.)
The Israelites had to leave Egypt for more reasons than one.
