Scripture is clear that the world and GOD plain don't go together. Scripture is also clear that all that is in the world is not of GOD by any means. (1st John 2:15: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
V. 16: "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
V. 17: "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.") Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life, are the 3 things that make up the evil in this world. Satan has been using these 3 things since day 1 when he tempted Eve in the Garden. That's all that's in this world. And that's all the god of this world (Satan) uses. (2nd Cor. 4:4: "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.") James 4:4 brings us to understand that we are adulterers and adulteresses if we are friends with this dark and evil world. And that the friendship of the world is enmity with GOD. And whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of GOD. Because GOD absolutely cannot mix with evil! HE can't do it! HE's too pure. Too holy. Too righteous. And this world is too evil. Too sinful. And too dark. We can't be mixed with what GOD can't be mixed with. For if we do, we are cheaters of the marriage we've made with GOD. We become covenant-breakers, adulterers and enemies of GOD. The only reason someone would choose the world is to please their flesh. Selfishness. It's time to cut ties with selfishness, be holy and serve the LORD.
