Scripture Post #1,134: *YE ASK AMISS*
James 4:3:
"Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."

James 4:2: "…Ye have not, because ye ask not." But asking isn't quite enough. There are those who have not because they ask not. There are also those who have not because they ask amiss. Meaning: they ask the wrong way. They ask—how James 4:3 puts it—that they may consume it upon their own lusts. Asking for money so you can go out to the movies whilst your electric bill isn't paid, is asking amiss. You're asking in order to heap your request upon your lust. When we ask GOD for things, we must be certain that our flesh is dead first. GOD grants no prayers for fleshly elevation, resurrection or satisfaction. GOD wants the flesh dead. And as should we.
