James 2:5 falls within the context of preferential treatment which this chapter refers to as, respect of persons. James 2:1-13 deals with this subject extensively. The Church is guilty of favoring wealthy preachers over poor ones. Yes, we are. We are guilty of holding those with titles over those without them. We treat celebrities who attend our Church services with greater honor than we do those of lowly status. "Oh! If I could just reach this celebrity, or that pop-star, I'd be so happy!" The truth of the matter is we should hold the same level of happiness no matter who gets saved. Because a soul was saved. This is about people's souls. James 2:5 states that GOD has chosen the "poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him…" GOD loves them. And GOD is not a respecter of persons.
