This Scripture is significant to me. It states that when the Apostles ordained men as Elders in every Church, they had *PRAYED WITH FASTING*. When making huge decisions and transitions, it is great to pray with fasting. There are several Scripture-passages in the Bible that deal with fasting. JESUS even fasted. But I'd like to focus on Esther. Check this out: Esther 4:16: "Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish." Esther fasted with a group before facing her husband, the king. She risked being executed to save the lives of her people. She didn't want to pray only. She desired praying with fasting. Why? Because fasting strips the flesh of itself. Fasting kills the flesh. Fasting elevates the spirit. When you pray, you should want your spirit and GOD's SPIRIT to be on the same resonating frequency. Nothing does this better than praying with fasting. Esther gave us the definition of true fasting in Esther 4:16: to not eat and to not drink at all. Fasting Coca~cola and Snicker bars isn't going to bring you any closer to GOD than an ice cube could to the sun. When making those serious, life-changing decisions, seek GOD with praying with fasting.
