Hebrews 12:
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Scripture states that Esau's tearful, careful prayer was *REJECTED*. He sold his birthright for food, which was foolish. And he tried *hard* to get it back but couldn't. Grace nowadays is preached more than anything. And it should be. But we shouldn't shun GOD's other truths. Like being wise. Because some things won't be fixed by GOD. You can pray as hard as you want to, but once your virginity's gone, it's *gone*! Prison cells are filled with people who've made *extremely* costly decisions. GOD's grace isn't mayonnaise that you can just spread over every bad decision to make it taste better. The pedophile who touches the little boy has scarred the boy *forever*. Do you realize how many people suffer from homosexuality that were once victims of pedophilia?! Sure, GOD's grace can recover, replace, deliver and redeem. Don't get me wrong. But at the same time, many folks wouldn't need deliverance if they were never victims of bad decisions to begin with. This is plain truth.
JESUS spoke of the unpardonable sin of blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT. GOD's grace covers a multitude of sins. But not this one. ("Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." -Matthew 12:31.)
There's grace and mercy for the believer. But this doesn't mean run wild and act like a fool.
You don't think Esau's prayer was fervent, with tears in his eyes and all? Yes. Esau prayed a fervent prayer but there was no breakthrough for him. Why? Because to be fervent isn't all that's required for our prayers to avail. We must be righteous, too: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." -James 5:16.
