This Scripture refers to Saul. Saul was one of the worst, most cruel persecutors the Christian Church has ever seen. But JESUS spoke to him, blinded him with HIS holy glory, and changed his life forever! After JESUS basically told Saul to discontinue persecuting HIS Church, Saul didn't eat or drink anything for 3 days. Saul went through a *PURIFICATION* process in those 3 days. Many believe a fast means you don't eat certain things but you can still drink if you'd like. Others believe a fast means eating nothing but drinking water only. But in actuality, a Biblical fast means eating and drinking absolutely nothing at all. Nowhere in the Bible can you find anyone fasting and consuming food or drink. The people found in Scripture that fasted ate and drank nothing at all. We as *comfortable-Christians* customize fasting because we think true fasting to be too difficult. But in actuality—that's the whole point, it's meant to be difficult, meant to challenge you, meant to stretch you, meant to work you (your faith that is).
You can go for a period of time abstaining from certain foods while consuming others—you just can't honestly call that a Biblical fast. People in this present time we live in go on real, Biblical fasts, and they finish supernaturally empowered! I've gone on a 3 day fast, consuming nothing at all. And guess what? It didn't kill me. I've also Biblically-fasted 7 days straight and I'm still breathing. I don't mention my fasting to toot my own horn; I do so, to show it can be accomplished successfully.
We mustn't water down the Word of GOD to match our fleshly desires. We should instead, die to our flesh, allowing GOD to have HIS perfect, supernatural work be done in our lives. There's nothing wrong with the Bible; there may just be something wrong with our faith in it.
