This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, unto Titus, his son in the common faith (Titus 1:1-4).
There's a balance between turning the other cheek, and not allowing anyone to despise you. On one hand, JESUS said: "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." ~ Matt. 5:39.
And on the other hand, the Apostle Paul said: "These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee." ~ Titus 2:15.
And there's also the occasion when Paul rebuked Peter in Gal. 2:11: "But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed."
V. 14: "But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?"
Here lies the balance: allowing someone to slap you on the face is by no means a punk move. Great strength, love and toughness is required to do so. And to rebuke someone takes those 3 things as well. Rebuke is correction. And correction is for those who typically don't know what they're doing is wrong. Hitting someone in the face is not necessary for rebuke because no one is blind to how wrong it is. By allowing people to wrong you by doing something awful to you like hitting you, then hitting you again, is actually teaching them agape, and allowing room for conviction to take place and GOD's pricking of the heart. People will be ashamed of themselves by their heinous actions and will have the opportunity to be moved by the agape displayed. Standing strong with *ALL AUTHORITY*, rebuking when necessary and not allowing yourself to be despised is your right as a Believer. To be included in GOD's family is for absolutely no one to look down upon—for no one to despise! Folks need to recognize!
