Pilate was only giving the people what they wanted. The Chief Priests were pressed to have JESUS crucified. Because they had beef with JESUS. Before JESUS came, they were the stuff! They were looked upon with great esteem. They were the only access point between GOD and man. Then, here comes JESUS—ruining it all. JESUS outdid the Pharisees—performing miracles, sharing love and providing a New Testament, changing GOD's access point and redirecting the focus off of these Pharisees and onto the KING of Kings. So, although Pilate had Jesus scourged, mocked and eventually crucified, it was the Pharisees' persistence that brought about these occurrences.
