1st Timothy 6:10: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, unto Timothy, his son in the faith (1st Tim. 1:1-2).
This may very well be the most misunderstood Bible verse in the entire Bible. From the context we gather the true meaning of the verse:
1st Tim. 6:9: "But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition."
V. 10: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
V. 11: "But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."
This Scripture-passage is more of a warning than a command. It warns of the lusts, temptation, and destruction many fall into who are indeed rich (verse 9). The verse directly following (which is verse 10) is the one that many get twisted. It states that the love of money is the root of all evil—not money itself. I hear time and time again, via media, that it's money that's the root of all evil. Tsk, tsk, tsk, that Devil sure is crafty. Loving money is the thing to veer, not money itself. JESUS had a rich Disciple (Matt. 27:57). So don't get it twisted, money is by no means evil. Finally, verse 11 states to flee the love of money and what it brings. And to "…follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."
Matt. 27:57: "When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:"
