Scripture Post #756: *SPIRIT UNQUENCHED*

1st Thessalonians 5:19: "Quench not the Spirit."

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul, Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the Church of the Thessalonians (1st Thess. 1:1).

Quench means to put out, to extinguish, to cool, to cause to lose heat or warmth, to bring an end to, to eliminate, to extinguish, etcetera, etcetera. Well, some of the ways to do this to the Holy Spirit are to: ignore HIM, act out selfishly, do your own *thang*, follow after those who don't follow after GOD, fulfill the works of the flesh, and so forth. These things stop, or quench the SPIRIT of HIS plans and desires for you. The SPIRIT of the LORD can want to have HIS way in your life all HE wants, but if you choose to do things to prevent HIS wishes, then HE will not override your decisions. 

"Quench not the Spirit." Don't prevent the SPIRIT's will to be fulfilled in your life as if you know more than GOD, or as if your plans should override HIS. We must know that the HOLY SPIRIT's way is the best way, and we should do our very best not to quench HIM.
