Scripture Post #743: “WORKS OF ABRAHAM”

John 8:39: 

“They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.”

John 8:31 begins the conversation between JESUS and certain Jews that believed on HIM (John 8:31: "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him…"). 

Within this conversation, JESUS said what John 8:39 states. Basically, the Jews claim that Abraham was their father couldn't be proven because their actions differed from Abraham's! How can one claim to be a certain way and totally act the opposite way? When we read the accounts of Abraham and compare those to the accounts of these Jews, we get contradicting accounts. That's what JESUS was saying. These Jews were *lying*. What they were claiming couldn't be proven because it simply wasn't true. 

Does what we say align with what we do, or are we liars, similar to the Jews JESUS confronted?

May our words be proven by our actions. Amen.
