Scripture Post #637: *HOW SHALL YE BELIEVE?*

John 3:12: "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?"

After JESUS explained what being born again meant, this happened:

John 3:9: "Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?"

V. 10: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?"

V. 11: "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness."

V. 12: "If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?"

Some people can't handle certain truths and revelations. It's like, if a small child is still learning their abc's, how will they handle story-books? They can't. Nicodemus couldn't process the understanding of Heavenly things, if he wouldn't 1st begin believing earthly things. In verse 11, JESUS  explains how Nicodemus would not receive what CHRIST's followers had to say. If he wouldn't receive from them concerning earthly things, he certainly wouldn't receive from JESUS regarding Heavenly things. The same goes for us. If we refuse to accept little things, we won't believe or receive big things. If we desire to understand spiritual/Heavenly revelations, then we mustn't refuse to understand the basics.
