Scripture Post #633: *DISCERNMENT*
John 2:
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracleswhich he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

John 2:23-25
The Message (MSG):
"During the time he was in Jerusalem, those days of the Passover Feast, many people noticed the signs he was displaying and, seeing they pointed straight to God, entrusted their lives to him. But Jesus didn’t entrust his life to them. He knew them inside and out, knew how untrustworthy they were. He didn’t need any help in seeing right through them."
Many wonder why JESUS isn't with them. Others say, "There is no GOD." Or, "GOD's not real." But 1 thing about JESUS is that HE has *DISCERNMENT*. HE can tell what manner of heart you have, and how sincere your heart is. The people mentioned in this Scripture post believed because they saw miracles. I'm sorry, but if it takes miracles for you to be converted into a Christian, then Christianity is not for you. Seeing in order to believe is like: "I'll believe GOD on my own terms. Do this, GOD, then I'll believe." Believing in order to see looks like this: "GOD, I believe. Show me your truth. I desire to see what you see." BIG difference. GOD knows the heart. And the hearts of those in this Scripture-Passage weren't right. JESUS saw right through them. They weren't sincere. They only believed because they *needed* JESUS to wow them—huge mistake! That is not how it works. GOD is GOD—we aren't. We don't demand a sign from GOD in order to believe. Just who do we think we are? We should have a heart-check to see our true motives and intentions. For GOD looks at the heart.
1st Sam. 16:7: "…For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
