Scripture Post #608: *NO FLESHLY CONFIDENCE*

Philippians 3:3: "For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh."

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Timotheus, to the Saints of Philippi, with the Bishops and Deacons (Phil. 1:1).

"For we are the circumcision…" 

- Phil. 3:3

In Jewish tradition, it has always been a custom of theirs to circumcise their infant, baby boys as devotion to GOD. It symbolizes cleanliness and shows that the Jews are set apart as peculiar. JESUS was a Jew. And we are adopted into the Jewish order. The Jews are GOD's chosen people. And those of us who are the elect (chosen of GOD) are likened unto Jewish circumcision.

(Rom. 2:28: "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:"

V. 29: "But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

Eph. 1:4: "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:"

V. 5: "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,")

We are made in the image and likeness of GOD. And likened unto the 3-part GOD: FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT, we too are 3-part beings: spirit, soul and body. And the part of us that worships GOD is our spirit. We worship GOD in spirit and in truth.

(1st Thess. 5:23: "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

John 4:24: "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.")

"…Have no confidence in the flesh."

The flesh is evil. That's why we have *NO FLESHLY CONFIDENCE*!!

(Rom. 7:18: "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing…"

Gal. 5:16: "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

V. 17: "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

V. 19: "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,"

V. 20: "Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,"

V. 21: "Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.")
