Scripture Post #605: *CHRIST BEHOVED*

Luke 24:
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

JESUS is speaking here in this Scripture Passage.

CHRIST was behoved (profited) by HIS death for us.

"…It pleased the LORD to bruise him…" (Is. 53:10.)

CHRIST was forsaken by HIS FATHER on the cross for us. (Matt. 27:46: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?")

How was CHRIST behoved? Because HE profited greatly for dying for us. HIS death justified many (Is. 53:11). GOD loved us so much, that HE sent HIS precious, only begotten SON, JESUS CHRIST, to die for us. HE imputed the sins of the world upon a sinless, spotless, blemish-free LAMB! HE wanted us, even when we didn't want HIM. JESUS CHRIST was profited because HE completed HIS mission to reconcile sinners—transforming them into saints!

It pleased the LORD for the very same reason: JESUS brought filthy, Hell-deserving sinners, to the FATHER, through redemption. Task accomplished!

And CHRIST was forsaken so we wouldn't have to be. HE took our place! HE became our sin. And GOD is so Holy that HE cannot be where sin is. And we were sinners, making it impossible to ever be accepted by a Holy GOD. So when CHRIST became sin and was forsaken, it was a testament that we would've been forsaken had CHRIST not been!

2nd Cor. 5:21: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Is. 53:10: "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."
V. 11: "He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."
