Context:
Luke 23:39: "And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us."
V. 40: "But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?"
V. 41: "And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss."
V. 42: "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom."
V. 43: "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

The malefactor who believed on JESUS was saved! It wasn't by anything he did or could ever do that saved him, but by his faith in the fact that JESUS is LORD and SAVIOR. It was by GOD's abundant grace that saved this malefactor (criminal). When your faith meets GOD's grace, you become saved. That's it. That's all.

Rom. 10:8: "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;"
V. 9: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
V. 10: "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Eph. 2:8: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
V. 9: "Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Many get saved on their deathbeds. So don't ever, ever, *ever* give up on people. GOD sure doesn't. HE didn't give up on this malefactor. And HE won't give up on you and those you desire saved!
