Scripture Post #596: *OTHERS*

Philippians 2:
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul and Timotheus, to the Saints of Philippi, with the Bishops and Deacons (Phil. 1:1).

Would it devastate us to get the focus off ourselves and focus on *OTHERS* for a change? When we give to others, why is the focus, "Yeah, God's gonna bless me, 'cause I just gave to so-and-so"? Why, at it's core, is our giving, the thing meant to be *selfless*, selfish? Why, at Church, are we giving to receive? You'll be blessed for giving, yes. You'll receive when you give, yes. But should that be the very reason we give? How selfish. What about others? Can't we focus on them? Can others have more than us without us bickering about it? "…In lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Would it be so hard to regard, consider, admire, respect and value others *better* than ourselves? Because that's what esteem means. And Scripture states to esteem others *better* than ourselves.

1st Corinthians 10:24
GOD’S WORD Translation (GW):
"People should be concerned about others and not just about themselves."

Galatians 6:2: "Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."
V. 3: "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself." (Scripture Post #456: *HELPING OTHERS*.)
Don't ever think of yourself as too good to help others. You're only deceiving yourself in that notion.
