Scripture Post #557: *PLOTTED DESTRUCTION*
Luke 19:
47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,
48 And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

The Chief Priests plotted CHRIST's destruction before HIS crucifixion. CHRIST's death was longed for and awaited by the Pharisees. The message of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST upsets evil men; men opposed to HIS Holiness. The Pharisees were hypocrites—posing as holy, but inwardly unGodly. Unfortunately, there are still those who persecute those who stand for the message of the Cross. But it is to be expected. After all, if JESUS was hated and plotted against, what would make us exempt from the same treatment, if we are HIS followers?
Words Of CHRIST Toward The Pharisees:
John 8:40: "But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham."
V. 44: "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
Words Of CHRIST Toward The Pharisees:
Matt. 23:27: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness."
V. 28: "Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity."
Words Of CHRIST:
John 15:18: "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."
V. 19: "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."
