Scripture Post #546: *MANIFEST BY THE LIGHT*

Ephesians 5:
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

This Scripture was from Apostle Paul to the Saints of Ephesus (Eph. 1:1).

Reprove means to correct. Manifest means to make clearly seen, or easily visible. Dark things are made manifest by light. If you were to enter a pitch black dark room, you wouldn't be able to see anything. But if you had a flashlight—whichever direction the flashlight pointed would be made manifest: made clear to see. Things in need of reproof are things done in the dark. There's not one sin that isn't dark. All sin is dark. So when reproof is present, light is present. In order to be reproved, you would have had to have been doing something wrong. Every time a Christian is reproved, it's like GOD's flashlight is pointing on them, exposing their sin and freeing them from it! Reproof isn't a bad thing. We need reproof if we're bound by sin. Reproof is freeing. Reproof is necessary. Now check out Eph. 5:13 with the proper definitions of 'reprove' and 'manifest': "But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light." When reproving is done a light comes on.

I've heard of rare cases where certain people sleep with their eyes open. But for the most part, sleeping is done with your eyes closed. And when your eyes are closed, you are in darkness. If you are spiritually sleep, you are spiritually in darkness and are dead to JESUS. JESUS is light. And those on JESUS' side, on JESUS' team, in JESUS' family, are in light, not in darkness. So we can't be 'sleep,' but must be 'awake' in CHRIST. Now let's read Eph. 5:14 through this perspective: "Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light." Once light hits you, you become saved. You cannot be in darkness and be saved at the same time.
