This Scripture was from Apostle Paul to the Saints of Ephesus (Eph. 1:1).
We walk in love as CHRIST loved us. HE loved us so much that HE offered HIMSELF up as a sacrifice for us. In the Old Testament GOD had pleasure in the offering-sacrifices that were made unto HIM. They were a sweet savor to HIM.
Ex. 29:41: "And the other lamb thou shalt offer at even, and shalt do thereto according to the meat offering of the morning, and according to the drink offering thereof, for a sweet savour, an offering made by fire unto the LORD."
Just as GOD had pleasure in the offering-sacrifices of the Old Testament, GOD also had pleasure in HIS SON, JESUS' offering-sacrifice. It was a *SWEETSMELLING SAVOR* unto HIM. It also pleased HIM that JESUS was bruised (Is. 53:10).
In Isaiah chapter 53, JESUS is described as follows:
Verse 7: "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted…he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter…"
V. 8: "He was taken from prison and from judgment…for the transgression of my people was he stricken."
V. 9: "…He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth."
V. 10: "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him…"
JESUS took on our sins (HE became sin: 2nd Cor. 5:21). Making HIM the perfect, spotless offering-sacrifice as an atonement for our sins. GOD was pleased with JESUS being bruised (Is. 53:10) because in JESUS being bruised HE reconciled us to GOD. HE made it possible for us to have a relationship with GOD.
2nd Cor. 5:21: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
1st Peter 1:19: "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
Rom. 5:11: "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement."
2nd Cor. 5:18: "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;"
V. 19: "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."
